Floating Oak Stair Treads

These floating oak stair treads are ideal for open staircase designs where the structure is concealed or minimal (centre spine / mono stringer staircases).

This style creates a clean, architectural look, allowing the natural beauty of the oak to stand out while maintaining a strong and stable walking surface.

Finish & Natural Character

Oak is a natural material, and each tread will display its own grain pattern and subtle colour variation. Occasional knots or natural markings may be present and are considered part of the timber’s character.

Wider treads are made from multiple pieces of solid oak, expertly jointed to create a stable, consistent board.

Our hand-finished surface highlights these features while providing a smooth, durable finish suitable for everyday use.

Our oak treads are ideal for:

  • Mono stringer staircases

  • Centre spine staircases

  • Modern open-plan homes

  • Contemporary renovations and extensions

  • Architectural self-build projects

FAQs

Are mono stringer staircases strong?

Yes. When correctly designed and installed, a centre spine staircase is extremely strong. The steel spine provides the structural support, while the oak treads offer durability and visual weight.

Are oak staircase treads slippery?

Oak treads can be finished with suitable hard wax oils or treatments to provide a durable, practical surface suitable for everyday use.

Can oak treads be refinished?

Yes. One of the main advantages of solid oak is that it can be sanded and refinished over time if needed.

How thick are the oak stair treads?

Our floating stair treads are produced at approximately 35mm & 45mm thickness, offering two choices for our larger stair tread range

Do you offer custom sizes?

Yes, most of our products have either a built in calculator so you can purchase the exact size you need or have menu sizing to choose from.

What are your dispatch times?

We aim to dispatch our boards and shelving within 7 - 10 days but in busy periods this can be up to 2 weeks, if you have any questions please contact us.

Where do you source your timber?

We source our timber from responsibly managed forests in France and across Europe, prioritising sustainability, quality, and long-term forest management.
